Event & Conference Photographer in London – ExCeL and Beyond

Event and Conference Photography

Capturing Energy and Atmosphere at ExCeL London

WTM London is one of the biggest events on the global travel calendar, filling ExCeL London with exhibitors, country pavilions, and live performances. It’s the perfect environment to show what a professional event photographer can deliver – large crowds, fast movement, mixed lighting and a ton of branding to capture cleanly.

My Event Photography Approach

My goal at events like WTM London is simple – capture the buzz, the professionalism and the personality of the show.

Here’s how I approach it:

  • Wide panoramics: Establishing shots that show the scale and energy of the venue.
  • Exhibitor stands: Clean compositions highlighting branding, conversations, and engagement.
  • Candid moments: Natural reactions, networking, laughter – the human side that sells the atmosphere.
  • Details: Lanyards, coffee cups, hands exchanging cards, logos reflected in glass – these give context and texture.
  • Performances & stages: Sharp, well-timed captures of speakers, lights and audience reaction.

Every frame I capture is about telling the full story of the event – from arrival to after-hours networking.

Behind the Lens – My Event Photography Setup

For this shoot, I kept things simple with a single-camera setup: Canon R5 paired with the RF 24-105mm f/2.8 lens. It’s an incredibly versatile combo that lets me move fast and adapt to changing light and distance without constantly switching lenses.

The R5’s autofocus and colour accuracy mean I can nail crisp, high-quality images in any lighting – from the darker corners of exhibition halls to brightly lit stages. The 24-105mm range gives me flexibility to go from wide crowd scenes to tight branding details in seconds.

Keeping my setup light means I can focus on composition and timing, not faffing with gear. When you’re working at busy venues like ExCeL London, agility is everything.

Why Book a London Event Photographer

London’s venues, especially ExCeL, Olympia, and The Business Design Centre, have unique challenges – tricky lighting, crowded aisles, and constant movement. Shooting confidently in that environment means knowing how to handle light, angles, and pace.

Being based in Hertfordshire makes me ideally placed for London events. I’m close enough to be flexible with timings and travel, but without the Central London overheads. That means you get high-end photography without the inflated cost.

I’ve worked across everything from corporate conferences and brand activations to large-scale trade shows. I adapt to whatever the client needs – hero shots for PR, behind-the-scenes for social media, or polished coverage for annual reports.

Case Study – WTM London at ExCeL

One of my favourite shoots at ExCeL was during World Travel Market. I focused on capturing the energy and global collaboration that define it – from packed aisles and performances to elegant stand designs.

I used natural movement and light wherever possible, blending candid and documentary approaches. The final images showcased the professionalism of the event, highlighting the stands, branding, and genuine interactions between exhibitors and attendees.

This kind of coverage helps organisers, exhibitors, and sponsors show their success to partners and future clients – and that’s exactly what professional event photography should do.
