A Night Celebrating Community, Colour and Passion
On Friday, I had the pleasure of photographing the RHS Britain in Bloom Awards 2025 at The Grand Hotel in Brighton – a celebration of community spirit, teamwork, and the power of gardening to bring people together.
The room was buzzing with excitement as finalists from across the UK gathered to celebrate months of dedication and hard work. From the moment guests arrived, I focused on capturing candid, natural shots that showed the real energy of the night – the laughter, conversations, and that mix of nerves and pride before the awards began.

Documenting the Details and the Speakers
As the event got underway, I switched to a tighter setup to capture the speakers on stage – those moments where emotion and storytelling meet great lighting. From the inspiring words of RHS leaders and Bloom judges to the cheers that followed each announcement, the event flowed with warmth and genuine appreciation for what these communities have achieved.
Lighting at award events can be tricky, but with the right angles and timing, you can capture both atmosphere and clarity. My goal was to document the event without being intrusive – professional, fast, and discreet, while ensuring every important moment was covered.

Capturing the Awards – Real Reactions, Real Emotion
When it came time for the awards, the energy in the room hit another level. Groups from across the country celebrated their wins with hugs, cheers, and even a few tears.
Southport in Bloom were crowned the Overall Winners, earning recognition for their incredible volunteer efforts and community spirit. You could see just how much it meant to them – genuine pride that told the story better than words ever could.
One of the standout moments came from Let’s Get Grangemouth Clean – The Glitter Team, representing Keep Scotland Beautiful. Their reaction was electric. They won several awards and completely stole the show, celebrating with dancing, laughter, and pure joy. Those spontaneous moments are what I live for as an event photographer – raw emotion that sums up the whole evening.

Fast Turnaround and Professional Event Coverage
This event came with an urgent delivery requirement, so I prioritised a quick but high-quality turnaround. The images were processed and delivered in record time for media and press use.
That’s often the reality with conference and award photography – speed matters just as much as style. My workflow is designed for exactly that: capturing, editing, and delivering polished, ready-to-use imagery within tight deadlines, while keeping everything consistent and professional.

Why Hire a Professional Event Photographer
Award evenings and conferences are fast-paced and unpredictable. Hiring an experienced event photographer ensures nothing important gets missed – not just the speeches and the handshakes, but the moments in between that tell the full story.
From lighting control to framing, composition, and timing, there’s a lot that goes into getting those natural, authentic shots that truly represent your brand or organisation. Whether it’s a corporate conference, product launch, or national awards evening, I bring years of experience, professionalism, and creativity to every shoot.
